DAR DAR

Dar-Dar: an application serving urban solidarity

Dar-Dar is a web and mobile application that facilitates the free exchange of goods, services and knowledge between citizens. Through an interactive map, it connects people with needs with citizens and organisations willing to help.

The application was developed during the Social Hackathon Umbria 2024, where it was awarded as the best digital innovation for sustainable development. Dar-Dar offers a simple, human and inclusive approach to everyday solidarity: help with moving, shared meals, language lessons, homework assistance or passing on skills.

More than just a digital tool, Dar-Dar is part of a participatory and citizen-based approach, with the creation of the H.A.R.O. committee (Humane Auto-Representatives of the ‘Forgotten Groups’). Made up of people in vulnerable situations, this committee helps shape the project by articulating their needs through workshops and audiovisual creations, with the aim of improving social services and policies in Brussels.

Dar-Dar is:

A solidarity map to make needs and resources visible and accessible.

A free marketplace that encourages donation, sharing and social connection.

A physical meeting space for interaction, support and exchange.

An inclusive and participatory form of governance based on experiential expertise.

With Dar-Dar, solidarity becomes visible, accessible and above all: collectively supported.
