Digital workshops: offer for schools

Who is Maks

Maks has been pioneering digital inclusion for adults and young people from the Brussels Canal Zone since 1999.
Using innovative methods, we try to bring out their talents and competences. For this, we developed innovative methodologies and tools, with a focus on digital knowledge, which have already won several awards.

Cooperation with schools

Especially for schools, we developed a number of workshops for young people aged 10 to 18, such as learning basic computer skills, video techniques or coding.
But we also work to raise awareness, including workshops on cyberbullying. Workshops range from a minimum of half a day to a maximum of five days.

You can choose from one of our fixed formulas, but a tailor-made offer is also possible. Moreover, we also provide training to teachers.
Good to know: our courses can be paid for with science vouchers.

Cyberbullying

WHAT?
Workshops on cyberbullying and privacy on the internet. Cyberbullying is a very personal and sometimes delicate subject. Young people therefore need time to open up and share their personal stories. Their psychological well-being is paramount here, which is why we build the pathway slowly.

HOW?
In the workshops on cyberbullying, we make young people, both perpetrators and victims, aware of the consequences of cyberbullying. That awareness is raised through videos, group discussions and a quiz. We then guide young people in sharing their personal stories through digital storytelling. At the end of the series, there is a show moment where young people share their personal stories, sometimes surprising and moving, digitally.

FOR WHO?

The cyberbullying workshop is tailored to young people in the first grade of secondary education (12-14 years old).

Purpose: The purpose is twofold. On the one hand, we want to raise awareness among young people, both perpetrators and victims, about cyberbullying and its consequences. We also want to teach them skills on protecting their personal data and privacy on the internet. The workshops create solidarity among students besides awareness. The workshops create solidarity among students besides awareness.

WHEN?
Ideally, the cyberbullying workshop should run over four full days: for example, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am to 4pm or 5pm. Shorter or spread over several weeks is also possible. The days are determined in advance by the school and Maks.
